The Joust 6hr, 12hr and 24hr
The Joust is an off-road ultra held at Top Barn Campsite, Worcester (WR6 6NH), run on a looped course of about 5.6 miles on private farmland. The route follows parts of the Severn Way along the river toward Grimley and returns via fields, footpaths and very quiet lanes. The course is well marked and marshalled and is described as relatively flat.
There are three race options:
- J24 24 hour event with solo and team entry categories
- J12 12 hour 50 mile challenge for solo competitors
- J6 6 hour solo event
Camping for Friday and Saturday nights is included with entry. Onsite facilities include showers, toilets, drinking water points, catering, electrical hook-ups for a fee, a farm shop and tent hire for solo competitors. The course has three water stations and event photographers are present.
Participants receive race bibs and timing chips at registration and are presented with a technical event item such as a T-shirt, cap or mug. Medals are awarded to finishers according to each event's rules; J24 solo runners over 100 miles and teams over 200 miles receive commemorative buckles. Trophies are presented to top finishers in the event categories. Children take part in a separate Kiddies Joust with an inflatable obstacle and water run-through; children must be supervised.
Competitors must carry mandatory kit including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, a whistle and a mobile phone and must follow event rules and checkpoint procedures. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
