Event Overview
The Ultimate Raider Challenge is a continuous physical fitness competition hosted by the Grant Co HS JROTC. It is held in Dry Ridge, Kentucky. The event features categories for individuals and teams, including male, female, open, male team, female team, and co-ed team divisions.
Course Structure
The race is a single, continuous event. It begins with an opening 1-mile run. Participants then enter an obstacle course of approximately 1.5 miles featuring 14 distinct obstacles. These include an inverted wall, a balance beam, a 10-foot wall, a duck walk, Cleopatra’s Crawl, a bear crawl, a tunnel, Jacob’s Ladder, a pipe walk, an inclined wall, a hip over, a double roll-over, a low crawl, and an up-and-over station.
Following the obstacle course, competitors move directly to a football field for a Sprint-Drag-Carry event. This takes place in a 25-meter lane and consists of five segments performed in sequence: a sprint, dragging a 45-lb sled, a lateral shuffle, carrying two 40-lb kettlebells, and a final sprint. The challenge concludes with a final 1-mile run.
Registration and Awards
Registration is available for several categories. An "Open" event is listed for ages 1-17. Awards include plaques for the top three JROTC, ROTC, and Unit teams in each team event, plaques for the top three teams overall, and plaques for the top male and female in the Open event. Medals are awarded to all members of the top three teams in each team event and to the top ten finishers in each individual event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
