Big Rex's Bottle Rocket 5K
This community running event takes place on Saturday, July 4, 2026, in Dry Ridge, Kentucky. Organized by Ridge Runners Racing in partnership with Big Rex Fireworks and the city of Dry Ridge, the event celebrates 250 years of independence with races and a post-race festival.
The event features two distances:
- Big Rex's Bottle Rocket 5K
- Little Rex's Kids Fun Run (0.76 mile)
Both courses begin at the Dry Ridge City Building and conclude inside Piddle Park. The 5K race is open to all ages, with divisions ranging from under 10 to 80 and over. The kids' fun run is specifically for participants aged 10 and under. Registered children in the fun run may be accompanied by one adult chaperone at no extra cost.
Following the races, a post-race party is held at Piddle Park. This gathering includes a concert headlined by Nashville recording artist Taylor Henry. Attendees can access food and drinks from various on-site vendors.
Participants in the 5K receive a finisher medal featuring the race logo, and those who register receive a voucher for bottle rockets redeemable at a local fireworks tent. Children in the fun run receive a memento and a pack of sparklers. Overall male and female winners for both distances, as well as age group winners for the 5K, receive themed awards. Additionally, one registered participant will be selected in a drawing for a fireworks assortment package at the end of the ceremony.
