Big Rex's Bottle Rocket 5K
Big Rex's Bottle Rocket 5K is the second annual 5K road race held on July 3, 2027, in Dry Ridge, Kentucky. The event is presented by Ridge Runners Racing in partnership with Big Rex Fireworks and is scheduled to finish on the outfield of Piddle Park.
The in-person course is a 3.1 mile road route that begins at the intersection of Taft Highway and Race Street adjacent to the Dry Ridge City Building. Runners follow Taft Highway, turn right onto Dixie Highway US 25 south to a turnaround at Grant County Middle School, then return north on Dixie Highway. The route continues through School Street and Walnut Street, then turns down the alley just past Grant County Drugs and descends the ramp to the finish on Piddle Park outfield.
A virtual Big Rex 5K is offered; virtual registrants may complete a 5000 meter course after registration up to July 3, 2027, and must submit results on July 3 to be included. Registration for the event opens July 5, 2026 and closes May 31, 2027. Standard registration fee for the in-person 5K is listed as $35, with an alternative no-giveaway option listed at $25.
The race takes place alongside Little Rex’s Kids Fun Run and is followed by a post-race celebration at Piddle Park with food and drink vendors and live music as part of the event activities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
