Ugly Sweater Run
The Ugly Sweater Run is an annual event presented by the Elkhart Education Foundation, held in downtown Elkhart on December 5, 2026 at North Side M.S. Gym. The event encourages festive attire, especially holiday or "ugly" sweaters, while offering options for running, jogging, or strolling on accessible downtown paths.
The event offers multiple course lengths:
- 5K (3.1 mile) course
- 1 mile course
Participants can expect post-run activities as part of Elkhart Winterfest, which includes Breakfast with Santa at the Fire Station for $2, ice skating, special sales at downtown retailers, Letters to Santa, a parade, and a tree lighting ceremony. A Heart City Company truck will provide hot cocoa and coffee in support of the ECS Young Adult program.
Awards are presented to overall winners and to the top three finishers in the Male, Female, Teen, and Youth categories. A photo booth is available and a prize will be given for the tackiest sweater or outfit. Organizers also seek volunteers and staffing for cheer stations along the course.
