Ugly Sweater Run
The Elkhart Education Foundation organizes an annual Ugly Sweater Run on December 5, 2026, in downtown Elkhart with activities centered at North Side M.S. Gym. The event takes place on accessible paths through the downtown area and offers both running and walking options.
Race options include:
- 5K (3.1 miles)
- 1 Mile stroll
Awards are given to the overall participant and to the top three finishers in the Male, Female, Teen, and Youth categories. A photo booth will be available and a prize will be awarded for the tackiest sweater or outfit. Non-runners can take part in the 1 Mile stroll or participate as volunteers or at cheer stations along the course.
The run coincides with Elkhart Winterfest, which features a full day of activities: Breakfast with Santa at the Fire Station (fee listed), ice skating, special sales at downtown retailers, Letters to Santa, a parade, and a tree lighting ceremony. After the event, refreshments such as hot cocoa or coffee will be available from the Heart City Company truck in support of the ECS Young Adult program.
