Faith Mission Turkey Stampede presented by Adams Remco, Inc.
The event is a community Thanksgiving morning series of runs and walks in Elkhart that raises funds for Faith Mission of Michiana; entry fees are donated while sponsors cover fixed event costs. Distances offered include:
- 10K Run
- 5K Run
- 5K Walk
- 1 Mile Walk
Routes begin on Jackson Street and use loop courses through downtown Elkhart, the historic Strong Avenue neighborhood, and sections near the river. The 10K follows most of the 5K course with an extra mile through Strong Avenue and a lap around McNaughton Park that includes one small hill. The 1 Mile Walk loops around Island Park and is described as an accessible course.
Running events use chip timing; the timed runs do not start until a runner crosses the timing mat. The 5K and 1 Mile walk options are not timed. Finisher medals are available for all participants at the finish, and water and refreshments are served at the finish area. The event posts finishing times for running participants to the event message board and results page. There are no formal awards ceremony plans, but top three overall men and women in the 5K and 10K receive turkey awards; a cash prize is offered to the first male and female to pass a designated volunteer turkey.
Packet pickup is available at multiple pre-race locations in South Bend, Goshen, Mishawaka, and Elkhart, plus a race day pickup option. Corrals are used to spread participants along Jackson; specific corral assembly areas are listed for each distance. Port-a-johns and traffic control are provided on course.
