Charger Pump & Run 5K
The Charger Pump & Run is a University of Alabama Homecoming weekend event held on February 27, 2027 on the UAH campus. The event features a 5K run on a USATF Certified 5K Course and is open to friends, family, alumni, and current students. The University Fitness Center serves as the event base where snacks, water, and refreshments will be provided and where race packet pick up takes place.
A central feature of the event is a bench press contest available during packet pick up and race day registration. Women use 65 pounds and men use 135 pounds for bench press reps. Each successful rep reduces a participant's 5K finish time by five seconds. Participants may continue reps until they fail or re-rack the bar.
Packet pickup is scheduled on these dates and locations:
- Wednesday, February 24, 2027 at the University Fitness Center
- Thursday, February 25, 2027 at the University Fitness Center
- Friday, February 26, 2027 at Fleet Feet in Jones Valley
- Saturday, February 27, 2027 at the University Fitness Center
Registration opens on 10/13/2026 and closes on 2/23/2027. The registration fee is $10.00. Awards will be presented at UAH Fraternity Sorority Row. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
