Event Overview

The UAH Homecoming Pump & Run 5K is a 5-kilometer running event that is part of UAH's Homecoming Weekend festivities. The FIT UAH Recreation department partners with Student Life to organize it. The event is open to both UAH-affiliated individuals and the general public.

Race Details

The course is a USATF-certified 5K route. The race uses chip timing. Awards include medals for the top three fastest times in both the men's and women's divisions. All participants receive an event T-shirt.

Unique Format: Pump & Run

A key feature of this event is the "Pump & Run" element. During registration and packet pick-up, participants have the opportunity to complete bench-press repetitions to reduce their final 5K time. Each successful repetition deducts 10 seconds from the finish time. Women lift a bar weighing 55lbs, and men lift 135lbs. Participants continue repetitions until they fail or choose to stop.

Location & Amenities

The race starts at the University Fitness Center, located at 500 John Wright Dr NW in Huntsville, Alabama. Snacks, water, and refreshments are provided at the start/finish area. After the race, participants are invited to the broader UAH Homecoming festivities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
