Rocket City Marathon Race Weekend
The Rocket City Marathon is a multi-day running event organized by the Huntsville Track Club in Huntsville, Alabama. The races start and finish at the Von Braun Center (VBC) on Monroe Street in the downtown area. The event weekend includes a variety of distances and associated activities, such as a Health and Fitness Expo and packet pickup located at the VBC.
The schedule features multiple race options over two days:
- Marathon (26.2 miles): Includes a standard start with a six-hour time limit and an early start for participants needing up to seven hours.
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles): This course has a four-hour time limit and passes through the Botanical Gardens.
- 10K (6.2 miles): A flat, walker-friendly course that travels through the Old Town neighborhood.
- 5K (3.1 miles): A route that winds through the downtown area of Huntsville.
- 1 Mile: A family-oriented fun run and walk with a thirty-minute time limit.
Participants for the marathon and half marathon follow courses that showcase local landmarks, including the US Space and Rocket Center. All registered participants receive a custom race shirt, a finisher medal, and post-race food. Runners who complete the marathon or half marathon receive an additional finisher gift.
