Winter Wild Thangs Trail Series
The Winter Wild Thangs Trail Series is a set of three trail races held at Monte Sano State Park in Huntsville, Alabama on December 19, 2026, January 2, 2027, and January 16, 2027.
Distances in the series include:
- Frozen Yeti: 5 Mile, 10 Mile
- Frozen Trash Panda: 10K, Half Marathon
- Frozen Goat: 15K, 30K
Courses include several bluff views with mountain scenery, creek crossings, and waterfalls. Several aid stations are provided on course offering water, Gatorade, coke, GU, pretzels, M&M's, and granola bars. Entrants who register for one of the two series receive a series t shirt, finisher awards, and a series plaque.
The series bundle is capped at 250 runners. Short Series bundle discounts apply if registered before 11/1 and different savings are available for late registration. Long Series bundle savings are offered per race. Registration closes on December 18 at 11:59 PM CT.
Packet pickup is available on the listed Friday before each race at RunningLane and may also be available the morning of each race. RunningLane's address is 2407 Memorial Pkwy SW, Huntsville, AL 35801.
Age groups for all races are 0-9, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Organizers note very loose cutoffs overall but specify a 17 minute per mile cutoff for Long Series participants. Average winter temperatures in Huntsville are lows around 25 to 35 F and highs around 45 to 55 F. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
