Frozen Yeti : Monte Sano State Park, Huntsville, AL
Frozen Yeti is a trail running event held at Monte Sano State Park in Huntsville, Alabama. It is the first race in the Winter Wild Thangs Trail Series, a three-race winter trail series in the Huntsville area. The event offers two distances:
- 5 Mile
- 10 Mile
Courses include bluff views and mountain scenery, as well as creek crossings and waterfalls. Several aid stations are placed on course offering water, Gatorade, cola, GU, pretzels, M&M's and granola bars. The race follows a cupless policy; participants must carry a handheld bottle, pack or reusable cup. A reusable RunningLane cup is available for purchase at checkout for five dollars.
The field is capped at 400 runners. All entrants receive a short sleeve tri-blend race shirt and a finisher award; the shirt design is the same across the series. Age groups are 0-9, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 plus for all races.
Organizers report very loose cutoffs overall but note a 17 minute per mile cutoff for long series participants and suggest those unable to maintain roughly 15 minute miles consider the shorter series distances. There are no refunds, deferrals, credits or entry transfers, and shirts or medals are not mailed after the event.
Packet pickup occurs at the RunningLane store in Huntsville. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
