Frozen Yeti - Monte Sano Trail Race
Frozen Yeti is a trail race held at Monte Sano State Park in Huntsville, AL. It is the first race in the Winter Wild Thangs Trail Series and offers two race distances.
The event is organized by RunningLane Events and the field is capped at 400 runners. All participants in the Frozen Yeti receive a short sleeve tri-blend t-shirt and a finisher award; the series uses the same shirt design for each race. The race follows a cupless policy: runners must carry a handheld bottle, pack, or reusable cup. A RunningLane reusable cup is available for purchase at checkout for $5.
Courses feature several bluff views, creek crossings, waterfalls, and mountain scenery. Aid stations are placed on course and provide water, Gatorade, coke, GU, pretzels, M&M's, granola bars, and similar items. Marco's Pizza is a series sponsor and pizza will be available at the finish line for participants.
Age groups apply across all races: 0-9, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. There are very loose cutoffs; long series participants should expect a 17 minute per mile cutoff, and organizers suggest those unable to maintain roughly 15 minute miles consider the short series.
Packet pickup is handled through the RunningLane store in Huntsville. The race is part of a three-race winter trail series that includes both shorter and longer distances. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
