The Frozen Yeti kicks off the Winter Wild Thangs Trail Series at Monte Sano State Park near Huntsville with scenic 5 and 10 mile courses featuring bluff views, creek crossings and waterfalls. The field is capped at 400 and all finishers receive a race shirt and award.

Event

The Frozen Yeti is the first race in the Winter Wild Thangs Trail Series, held at Monte Sano State Park, 5105 Nolen Ave SE, Huntsville, AL 35801. The event offers the following race distances:

  • 5 Miler
  • 10 Miler

The race field is capped at 400 runners. All registrants receive a short sleeve tri-blend race shirt and a finisher award; the shirt design is the same for the entire series. Age groups are 0-9, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.

Course and support

The trail courses include bluff views, creek crossings, and waterfalls. Several aid stations are planned and will offer water, Gatorade, cola, GU, pretzels, M&M’s, granola bars, and similar items. The races are part of a three-race winter series that includes events on January 3, 2026 and January 17, 2026.

Logistics and rules

This is a cupless event; runners must carry a handheld bottle, pack, or reusable cup. A reusable cup is available for purchase at checkout for $5. Registration closes December 17, 2025. Packet pickup is scheduled the day before the race at the RunningLane store, located at 2407 Memorial Parkway SW Suite 1, Huntsville, AL 35801. There are no refunds, deferrals, credits, or transfers.
