Turning Point's Tara's 5K Run & Walk
Turning Point's Tara's 5K Run & Walk is an annual community run and walk scheduled for September 12, 2026 at Freedom Hill County Park, 14900 Metropolitan Parkway, Sterling Heights, MI 48312. The event is presented as part of efforts surrounding domestic violence awareness month in October.
The event honors the memory of Tara, whose death in Macomb County in 2007 led to a partnership that shares her story to increase awareness of the prevalence and dangers of domestic violence and to support prevention work.
Registration pricing is structured by date: early registration is listed at $30 through July 31, registration is $35 from Aug 1 to Sept 11, and event day registration is $40.
Turning Point provides a range of services for people affected by domestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking, including a 24 hour hotline, emergency shelter and housing, counseling, legal advocacy and personal protection order support, forensic nurse and first response advocacy, prevention, and community education. Turning Point also operates Second Hand Rose, a resale store that supports survivors and the agency mission.
