Turning Point's Tara's 5K Run & Walk
Turning Point presents a 5K run and walk event on September 12, 2026, at Freedom Hill County Park, 14900 Metropolitan Parkway, Sterling Heights, MI 48312. The event includes an on site 5K and a virtual 5K option that can be completed from anywhere.

In-person registration opens January 22, 2026; virtual registration opens July 14, 2026. Registration fees are listed as $30 for early registration through July 31, $35 from August 1 through September 11, and $40 for event day registration. Virtual participation is listed at $30.
The event honors the memory of Tara and aims to increase awareness about domestic violence. Turning Point is the hosting organization and provides free, confidential services for people affected by domestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking. Services described include a 24 hour hotline, emergency shelter, housing support, counseling, legal advocacy, personal protection order assistance, forensic nurse and first response advocacy, prevention, and community education. Turning Point also operates a resale store, Second Hand Rose, to support survivors and the agency.
Activities and service tables are located under the large covered pavilion. Complimentary hot dogs, chips, and beverages are provided after the 5K. Free parking is available in lots adjacent to the pavilion. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
