Turkey Trot for the Twig
The Turkey Trot for the Twig is a charity running event in Venice, Florida, that benefits children in the foster care system and the programs of The Twig Cares. The event features a chip-timed 5K on the Legacy Trail, a route free from vehicular traffic and supported by race staff and volunteers. Participants may run, walk, or trot the 3.1-mile course.
Registration details listed by the organizer include an entry fee of $40.00 and registration opening and closing dates. Registered participants receive a custom short-sleeve race shirt and a custom race bib; there is an option to upgrade to a long-sleeve or ladies' tank shirt for an additional $5. All 5K finishers receive a custom finisher medal. The shirt deadline is October 1; after that date shirt sizes and availability are not guaranteed.
Awards are presented for overall male and female, youth overall (14 and under), masters, grandmasters, senior grandmasters, veteran grandmasters, and three-deep in numerous age groups including 8 and under through 13-14 and then five-year age groups up to 80 and over.
Packet pickup is held at The Twig at 826 Pinebrook Road in Venice on the Thursday before the race. Unclaimed medals will not be held after the event and uncollected packets, shirts, or medals are forfeited. Sponsorship opportunities are available through the organizer.
