Turkey Chase - Cary
The Turkey Chase is a multi-distance running event held in Cary, North Carolina. Organized by the nonprofit Fit - Able Productions, the event offers a variety of distances for participants to run, walk, or stroll. The in-person race takes place at William B. Umstead State Park, while registration and parking are hosted at a nearby square.
Participants can choose from several event categories:
- 13.1 (Half-Marathon)
- 10K
- 5K
- Kids in Strollers (for ages 4 and under)
- Ultra Series 65.5
The Ultra Series 65.5 is a special challenge for runners who complete five different 13.1-mile races within the organizer's event series. For those unable to attend in person, virtual options are available for the 5K, 10K, and 13.1 distances.
The event utilizes a specific logistical setup where participants park at RallyPoint Sports Grill in Harrison Square. From there, a bus transports runners to and from the race start and finish lines located at the Reedy Creek Shelter in Umstead Park. No race parking is permitted directly within the state park.
Registration for the primary distances includes a finisher medal and a knit hat or fleece warmer. The course features established records for both male and female participants across all main distances. The event is also compatible with the RaceJoy mobile app, which provides GPS tracking and progress alerts for both in-person and virtual runners.
