Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk - Mount Pleasant
The Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk is coming to Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. This event serves to honor first responders and military personnel, specifically remembering those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. The race series was established to commemorate Stephen Siller, a firefighter who ran through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers during the attacks.
The event features a single distance for all participants:
- 5 km (approximately 3.1 miles)
This run and walk is open to all community members, including individuals, families, and professionals. Registration categories are divided into several tiers, including specific options for adults, first responders and military members, youth aged 13 to 17, and children aged 12 and under. Participants may choose to run or walk the course.
The 2026 edition marks the inaugural year for this event in Mount Pleasant. Activities are centered at the Park West Recreational Facilities, located at 1251 Park West Boulevard. Proceeds from the registration fees and community fundraising efforts support the Tunnel to Towers Foundation programs, which provide assistance to fallen and injured first responders, military heroes, and their families.
