Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk - Jackson, MI
The Tunnel to Towers 5K is a 5K (3.1 miles) walk or run held in Jackson, Michigan. The event honors a New York City firefighter who ran through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001, remembers those who died that day, and supports first responders and members of the military.
This is the tenth year the event takes place in Jackson; participants for the anniversary receive a commemorative finisher coin. The event is timed and includes awards that emphasize participants who run in firefighter, police, or military gear. Bibs must be displayed on the front of the outermost garment; runners without a bib will not be allowed to finish. Runners predicting a pace faster than six minutes per mile are seeded in the front corral.
Online registration remains open until the event and race-day registration is available with a late fee for most registrants; First Responders are exempt from the late fee. Fees listed for the regular registration categories are Adult $25, First Responders and Military $20, Ages 13 to 17 $10, and Ages 12 and under $5. Registration is nonrefundable but may be transferred to another person.
Strollers, wheelchairs, firefighter turnout gear, and military backpacks are permitted. An emergency medical service team will be on site and radio communication is available on course. Water will be provided along the route and at the start and finish. Packet pickup is available on race day and early pickup may be held Friday, May 15, 2026; location and time to be determined. Fundraising pages are available for registered participants and donations are accepted after the event for a limited period. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
