Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk - Fire Island, NY
The Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk in Ocean Beach, Fire Island takes place on July 26, 2026. The event is a 5K (3.1 miles) offered as a run or walk and is presented to honor first responders and support the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
Online registration opens January 21, 2026. Registration fees vary by category: adult, first responders and military, youth ages 13 to 17, and children 12 and under. Same day registration is available, though apparel sizes for late registrants are not guaranteed.
Packet pick up is at SandBar in Ocean Beach on Saturday, July 25 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, with same day pickup at SandBar beginning July 26 at 7:30 AM. An additional packet pick up will be held on Long Island on July 25 with details pending.
Ocean Beach does not allow cars; parking is available at the Fire Island Ferries terminal in Bay Shore. Participants are advised to allow time for parking and ferry travel. Bibs must be displayed on the front of the outermost garment; participants without a bib will be asked to leave the course.
Water stations will be available along the route and at the start and finish. Strollers and wheelchairs are permitted, as are firefighter turnout gear and military backpacks. SandBar will operate a bag check monitored by event staff; items are stored at the owner’s risk. Emergency medical services and radio communication will be on site. Awards will be given to top overall runners and top finishers in age categories. An after party at SandBar follows the event. Donations may be accepted for six weeks after the run.
