Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk - Fire Island, NY
The Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk in Ocean Beach, Fire Island, takes place on July 26, 2026. This community event returns for its fourth year in Ocean Beach to honor first responders and to remember those lost on September 11 while supporting the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
The event is a 5K road course (3.1 miles) available to runners and walkers. Registration remains open until the start of the event and day of registration is allowed, though shirt sizes for late registrants are not guaranteed. Registration categories and fees include Adult $25, First Responders and Military $20, Youth 13 to 17 $10, and Child 12 and under $5.
Packet pick up is at SandBar in Ocean Beach with additional packet pick up on Long Island. Parking is available at the Fire Island ferry terminal in Bay Shore. A ferry schedule and a course map will be provided by organizers.
Practical race details: bibs must be displayed on the front of outer garments; strollers and wheelchairs are permitted; firefighter turnout gear and military backpacks may be worn. Bag check will be available at SandBar and items are stored at the owner s risk. Water stations will be positioned along the route and at the start and finish. Awards will be given to top male and female finishers and to age category leaders, with additional recognition for participants wearing firefighter or military gear. Emergency medical services and radio communication will be on site. Donations are accepted for six weeks after the event. Registrations are transferable; refunds are not provided.
