About the race
The Runner's Edge Long Island Women's event is a community 5K run/walk held at Farmingdale High School in South Farmingdale, NY. The event includes a youth component, a 1/4 mile kids fun run for ages 12 and under, and the primary 5 kilometers (3.107 miles) course that runs through tree lined streets and finishes on the high school track. The course is USATF sanctioned and USATF certified and includes two water stations.
Race amenities include a top quality shirt, a finisher medal, Cosmos Ice Cream, live online/text/email results, free finish line photos, and personalized bibs for entrants who register three weeks in advance. Early bib pickup is offered the day before the event at the local Runner's Edge store in Farmingdale and day of pickup is available on the track infield.
Awards include Runner's Edge gift card prizes for top overall finishers and category winners, a top wheelchair prize, masters and senior masters awards, and the Paula Wunderlich Memorial Award plaque for the fastest GLIRC member. Medals are awarded in five year age groups from 14 and under through 80 plus. A portion of net proceeds supports Girls on the Run Long Island.
