Bellport Bay 5K Run/Walk
The Bellport Bay 5K Run/Walk is an annual summer 5K held in the village of Bellport. The event includes a free kids Fun Run that does not require registration. The course is described as accurately measured through the village, and strollers are not allowed on the course.
The event is staged at Bandshell Park at the Main Dock in Bellport. Parking is available near the Library or at Porters on the Lane. Bib pickup and race shirt distribution take place at the Bandshell/start and finish area on race day.
Awards are given to the top three male and top three female overall, and to the top three male and top three female in the following age groups: 12 and under, 13 to 16, 17 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, 70 to 79, and 80 plus.
Proceeds from race registrations and tax deductible sponsorships, after race related expenses, benefit the Bellport Village Program Fund. The fund supports projects to improve village recreational areas including mosquito and green fly abatement and improvements to facilities such as the Community Center Bowling Alley, the marina, Ho Hum and Mothers Beach, Osborne Park, and the Bellport Country Club. The fund reports that administrative costs are covered by its board so that donations go to projects. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
