Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk - Bethel
The Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk in Bethel is a community event at Bethel High School that honors first responders and remembers those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. The event supports first responders and military programs connected with the Tunnel to Towers Foundation and will be held in Bethel for the sixth year.
The course is a 5K (3.1 miles) open to runners and walkers. The race is timed and participants must display their bib on the front of their outermost garment. Fast runners who predict a pace faster than six minute per mile are seeded in the front corral. Awards emphasize participants who run in firefighter, police, or military gear.
Packet pickup is available the day before at Stony Hill Firehouse and onsite at the Bethel High School football field. Day of registration is allowed up to the start of the race, but late registrants are not guaranteed a race shirt; registrants by June 10 are guaranteed a shirt. Registration fees vary by category: Adult $25, First Responders and Military $20, Teen 13 to 17 $10, Child 12 and under $5. Registration fees do not count toward fundraising. Registration transfers are permitted; refunds are not provided.
Parking is available at Bethel High School. There will be a water station along the route and water at the square. Strollers and wheelchairs are permitted, and emergency medical services and radio communications will be available on site. Donations are accepted for six weeks after the event.
