Run for the Rock 5K

Event Details
The Run for the Rock 5K is an annual community running event in the Black Rock neighborhood of Bridgeport, Connecticut. It is part of the traditional Black Rock Day weekend.
Distances
- 5K run/walk: With separate age categories for participants 19 & over and 18 & under.
- Free Kids Fun Run: A short course of approximately 1/10 mile for children 8 years and under.
Registration
Registration is limited to 450 total participants. The event has sold out in previous years, and there is no race day registration if the event sells out. Registration is accepted online only, up to 5 minutes before the start.
Entry fees include a race shirt, which must be picked up before or on the event morning; no delivery is offered. Bibs are computer chip-timed and must be worn on the front of clothing. Early shirt and bib pickup is available on the two days before the event.
Course and Event
The 5K is run on quiet roads in the neighborhood. The course is described as 90% flat with one hill and offers views of the water. There is at least one water table on the course. The start and finish area is at the Norden Club on Seabright Avenue. Fast runners are encouraged to start at the front.
Awards and Partners
Awards are given for overall male, female, and non-binary champions, as well as for age groups. Awards are presented all at once for each group. The overall champions receive gift cards from the event's awards partner, Marathon Sports of Fairfield.
Participants are asked not to use headphones or earbuds during the event for safety reasons. The event raises funds for local charities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
