Tulip Trot for Parkinson’s Disease Awareness
The Tulip Trot for Parkinson’s Disease Awareness is an annual event held in Evansville, Indiana. The event takes place during Parkinson’s Awareness Month and is named after the tulip, which serves as the official flower of Parkinson’s disease. The activities are hosted at Garvin Park and proceed regardless of rain or sunshine.
Participants can choose from several event distances and formats:
- 5K Run/Walk: A timed race for runners and walkers.
- 1 Mile Walk: A shorter walking course.
- Virtual 5K: A remote option where participants complete the distance independently.
An exhibit tent is available on-site at Garvin Park. This area provides information about Parkinson’s disease and local resources available in the tristate area. Participants have the opportunity to fill out stickers to walk in honor or in memory of individuals affected by the disease. Educational components in the tent allow visitors to learn about the experience of living with Parkinson's disease.
For the in-person 5K Run, awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers. Participants who register by the designated deadline in mid-April are eligible to receive an event t-shirt. Virtual participants also receive a t-shirt by mail following the conclusion of the live event. General shirt and bib collection is organized at the park on the Friday evening before the event and on the morning of the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
