Tsunami Ocean Trails

Tsunami Ocean Trails are a set of coastal trail races held along a rugged section of the North Devon and Cornish coastline. Routes follow clifftops and cliff trails and pass through wild, remote terrain with long sections without towns or villages.

The event offers three distances:

  • Ultra: about 37 miles, Westward Ho! to Bude
  • Marathon: Clovelly to Bude
  • Sixteen: 16 miles, Hartland Quay to Bude

The marathon starts at Clovelly harbour and runs uphill on cobbled streets to reach the Coast Path, finishing on the lawns of Castle Bude. The marathon route includes almost 2,000 m of ascent. The ultra extends the marathon route by roughly 11 miles. The Sixteen includes a steep, vertiginous section from Hartland Quay.

Courses are fully marked and marshalled. Checkpoints are supplied and managed by runners, and first aid coverage is provided on course and at headquarters. Bus transport from Castle Bude to the various start locations and bespoke finishers medals are available. Dogs are not permitted during the races. A race permit has been granted by the Trail Running Association. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
