Event Overview
The Bude Lifeboat Run is an annual multi-terrain event organized by Bude RATs (Run and Tri) to raise funds for the RNLI. The event features distances for both adults and junior participants, held in the coastal setting of Bude. All surplus proceeds from the race are donated to support lifeboat and lifeguard services. The senior race serves as a fixture in the Cornwall Road Running and Racing Group’s Multi-Terrain Race Series.
Course Information
The event offers different routes based on the age category:
- 6 miles: A multi-terrain course for participants aged 15 and above, following Bude’s cycleway, canal towpath, and off-road footpaths.
- 1 mile: A single-lap junior race for those aged 15 and under, utilizing the cycleway and canal towpath.
Participation and Logistics
The senior race is limited to 500 participants and utilizes chip timing. Race headquarters are located at Bude Rugby Club, Bencoolen Meadow, with registration available from the afternoon of the event. Nearby parking is situated at The Crescent Car Park, which is a short walk from the headquarters.
Facilities at the venue include showers, a bar, and a BBQ. First aid cover is provided by RNLI Lifeguards. All finishers receive a memento, and prizes are awarded to individual winners, age category leaders, and team winners.
