About the race
Triathlon Ontario’s 2026 Provincial Championships take place on September 5 at the International Flatwater Centre in Welland. The event uses a draft legal Super Sprint format for all championship races. Short Super Sprint races are used for both strategic and logistic reasons. Strategically, short fast racing encourages development of tactics, quick transitions, speed and recovery for athletes who race multiple heats.
These elements have been identified as development needs in the provincial and national talent pathways. From a logistic perspective, the shorter course requires a smaller footprint, improves the spectator experience and makes relays possible; this event is the only one in the province to offer relays. The championships include racing across multiple categories: Elite/U23 Cup Series finale and provincial championships; Junior Cup Series finale and provincial championships; Youth Cup 14-15 Series finale, provincial championships and Ontario Summer Games qualifier; and Age Group Super Sprint provincial championships. Informal course familiarization is available on September 4. Race kit pick-up and the pre-race meeting are scheduled on September 4.
The transition area opens on the event day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
