Tri-State Warrior Run
The Tri-State Warrior Run is a multi-distance running and walking event held on the historic grounds of the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, built in 1886. The event includes on-site and virtual options and offers separate veteran and non-veteran entries for several distances. Chip timing is used for timed races. Race routes pass through campus architecture, woods, Deer Park, the Avenue of Flags, Sunset Cemetery, the Medal of Honor Memorial and sections of the Cedar Creek Trail. Portions of the running routes cross railroad tracks and may require an unexpected stop if a train passes.
A Bob Scott Memorial Kids Fun Run is offered for children age 10 and under. Children age 5 and under run 100 meters; children age 6 to 10 run 200 meters. Traditional dog tag style medals are awarded to event finishers. Parking is available by the Administration Building off the 12th Street entrance and at the lot south of the main drive near Lake Illinois. Participants are asked not to park on the Veterans Home roads.
