Trek the Forest, Rotorua
Trek the Forest takes place on 17th October 2026 at Lake Tikitapu (Blue Lake) in Rotorua. The event offers multiple marked trail distances that run around the lake and into the Whakarewarewa forest near Green Lake.
The course layout: the short route loops around Lake Tikitapu; the mid and long routes go deeper into Whakarewarewa forest and pass areas of older forest. Track condition is mostly well formed with a smaller portion of more technical single track.
Distances and basic course metrics:
- 5.5 km: short lake loop, elevation gain 96 m
- 13.7 km: mid route into forest, elevation gain 421 m
- 15.6 km: long forest route, elevation gain 479 m
Track surface notes: approximately 90% well formed track and 10% more technical single track. A course map and interactive route media are provided by the organiser.
