Trek the Forest, Rotorua
Trek the Forest is a trail event at Lake Tikitapu (Blue Lake) in Rotorua on 17th October 2026. The course uses formed track around the lake and extends into Whakarewarewa forest for the longer options, with views of Green Lake and areas of old growth forest.
Distances offered:
- 5.5 km short loop around Lake Tikitapu.
- 13.7 km mid course exploring forest and lakeside views.
- 15.6 km long course with deeper forest sections.
Track condition is approximately 90% well-formed track and 10% more technical single track. Elevation gain for each course is provided: short 96 m, mid 421 m, and long 479 m. The event notes that the long course provides greater distance and elevation for trail runners while the short course is an easy lakeside loop.
