About the race
The Rotorua Off Road event takes place in Whakarewarewa Forest, with races that start and finish at the Waipa Recreation Area and follow forest trails, pine-needle paths, and sections of the Pohaturoa Walking Track.
Distances offered:
- 21.1 km (two laps of the 10.5 km Waipa course)
- 10.5 km (one lap of the Waipa course)
- 5.5 km
- 3 km kids fun run
- 2 km kids fun run
Course notes describe runs past historic mud pools, pine-needle trails, forest roads, the Lion Trail, Red Tank Road (the highest point), a small rustic bridge, and multiple sections through the Redwoods Forest. The 10.5 km loop contains two aid stations; the 21.1 km event has four aid stations; the shorter events have an aid station only at the finish line. Competitors receive a finishers medal on completing their event.
Entry fees vary by distance and entrant type, with separate standard, late, and on-the-day prices listed for adults, school students, and Little Devils children. Group discounts (20% for 10+ people) and school student rates are available under specified conditions. Minimum ages apply: 16+ for 21.1 km, 12+ for 10.5 km, and 5+ for 5.5 km.
Withdrawal and transfer rules are specified: refunds before seven days prior incur an administration fee; transfers between individuals or distances are allowed up to 14 days prior or at registration under conditions.
