About the race
Rotorua Suffer is an annual multisport event held at the Blue Lake in Rotorua. The program includes triathlon distances, relay teams and standalone runs, held on a single weekend in December.
The event offers multiple race formats:
- Half: 2 km swim, 90 km cycle, 21 km run.
- Quarter: 1 km swim, 45 km cycle, 10 km run.
- AquaBeer: 2 km swim and 90 km cycle.
- Team entries: half and quarter distance relay teams.
- Run events: 21.1 km and 10.5 km runs.
The course combines a lake swim, rolling and hilly cycling terrain, and a road run. Organisers note the route includes significant climbs on the bike and varied conditions that can include heat or rain. Race categories include an option for slower half participants under a different start grouping referred to as Hooksie’s Heroes.
The event is organised by Brand New Day and has been staged at Blue Lake since 2006. The organiser’s event information emphasises mutual support among competitors and a social atmosphere at the finish. Practical details such as registration, packet collection and aid stations are provided through the event pages. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
