About the race
XTERRA Rotorua is a multi-discipline festival held on 10 April 2027 at Lake Tikitapu (Blue Lake) and Tarawera Road, Rotorua. The organiser is Barefoot Sport. The event offers a range of off-road and trail formats including swim, mountain bike and trail run distances, short and long course triathlon options, duathlon and relay teams. The long course triathlon also serves as the XTERRA New Zealand Championships.
Courses use trails and forest tracks around Lake Tikitapu and Whakarewarewa forest. The 26 km mountain bike course is set on forest trails and organisers recommend riders are comfortable on at least Grade 3 mountain bike tracks. The 21 km run or walk requires competitors to be 14 years of age or older.
Available formats and distances include:
- 5.5 km walk or run
- 11 km trail run
- 21.1 km walk or run
- 26 km mountain bike
- Short course triathlon (non-technical MTB mostly on dirt roads)
- Long course triathlon and triathlon relays
- Duathlon (bike and run)
Entry fees are tiered with early and late pricing and reduced rates for younger competitors. Registration closes on 10 April 2027. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
