Run Historic New Bern
The Trail to Tryon Holiday Half, 10K & 5K takes place in New Bern, North Carolina. Despite the event name, this is a road race held on paved surfaces. The name references the local history of Tryon Palace, which served as the first official center of government for colonial North Carolina. All three race distances share a common start and finish location situated on the south side of Tryon Palace, adjacent to the Trent River.
The courses are designed to transition through several distinct areas of the city. Participants run through the downtown district, residential neighborhoods, and waterfront parks. The event is scheduled for early December to coincide with the local holiday season and festive atmosphere in the downtown area.
Participants can choose from three different distances:
- Half Marathon
- 10 km
- 5 km
The event concludes with a post-race ceremony at Bates Commons. This gathering features various vendors and an awards presentation. All participants who complete their respective distances receive finisher medals. Additionally, age group awards are distributed for all three event distances. The venue at 529 S. Front Street provides proximity to the river and local businesses for those visiting the area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
