New Bern Autism 5k Run/Walk
The fifth annual New Bern Autism 5k Run/Walk is a community event organized by There's A Way StyronDavis Resource Network Inc. in partnership with the nonprofit organization Autismazing. The event focuses on autism awareness, acceptance, and connecting families in Eastern North Carolina with vital resources and support.
Participants can choose from multiple event formats:
- 5k Run/Walk
- Virtual Race
- Kids' Fun Run
The physical event takes place at Union Point Park in downtown New Bern, North Carolina. The course follows the waterfront, providing a scenic backdrop for runners and walkers. For those unable to attend in person, a virtual 5K option is available. Registration for the 5K includes a commemorative t-shirt and a gift bag containing various resources and items.
The day features a broad range of activities beyond the race. A Resource and Vendor Fair is held on-site, offering autism-friendly products and connections to community services. The event also includes live entertainment, music, games, food trucks, and a dedicated Autism Awareness Ceremony to honor individuals and advocates.
