Towpath Series
The Towpath Series is a sequence of evening road and trail races comprising three 10K events followed by a 5K finale. Participants may enter individual races or the full series; those registered for all races keep the same race number for each event.
Distances:
- 10K races (three events)
- 5K race (final event)
Race headquarters are at the Ashton Park School sports centre, where parking, changing and toilet facilities are available. There is a short walk of about half a mile from the HQ to the start. On-the-night entry and number collection are available at the sports centre and payments are accepted by cash and card.
The course is an out-and-back along the Towpath with marshals on route. The terrain is gently undulating and the surface combines tarmac and gravel footpaths with some roots and rocks. A tail runner is provided and there is no cut off time. Competitors are asked not to wear headphones of any kind so they can hear marshals.
Prizes are awarded at the end of each race for first, second and third man and woman, and for male and female vets in the 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80 age groups. Series vouchers and trophies are awarded after the final race. Every finisher receives a free raffle ticket for spot prizes; winners must be present to collect prizes or the prize is redrawn.
The Mob Match invites local clubs, companies and teams to compete. The first 15 finishers count for each team and the club with those counters in the highest finishing positions wins a team trophy. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
