Towpath Series
The Towpath Series is a sequence of road and towpath races comprising three 10 km events and a final 5 km race. Distances offered in the series:
- Three 10 km races
- One 5 km race
Race headquarters are at the sports centre at Ashton Park School (BS3 2JL). Parking, changing and toilet facilities are available at the race HQ. There is a short walk of about half a mile from the HQ to the start, so competitors should allow extra time to reach the start area. Number collection and on-the-night entry are available at the race HQ before each race; online entrants must collect their numbers at the HQ prior to racing. Competitors who enter all races should keep their number for reuse.
The course is a simple out-and-back along the towpath with a mix of tarmac and gravel footpaths and some roots and rocks. The route is gently undulating and is marshalled along its length. There is no cut off time and a tail runner is provided. Headphones of any kind are not permitted on the course.
A team competition called the Mob Match invites clubs, companies and teams to enter as many members as they wish; the first 15 finishers score for each team and the club with its counters in the highest finishing positions wins a trophy. Prizes are awarded after each race for first, second and third woman and man and for male and female veteran categories 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80. Every finisher receives a free raffle ticket for a post-race spot prize, and prizes must be collected in person or they will be redrawn.
