Touws 9km Circuit Hike & Row
Touws 9km Circuit Hike & Row combines a circular 9 km hike with a guided canoe experience on the Touw River, based at Fairy Knowe Hotel in Wilderness, Western Cape. The hike follows a well-maintained trail through forest and along the river, and passes Wilderness Beach where dolphin and whale sightings are possible.
The hike has approximately 70 m elevation gain and is described as taking about 2.5 to 3 hours to complete. The river section explores calm waterways toward the river mouth. Canoes are provided and are equipped with large splash-proof buckets for valuables such as cameras, snacks and daypacks.
The listed entry fee is R450 per person and includes SANParks conservation fees, canoe rental and a guided experience. The morning is described as finishing with a relaxed lunch together at Fairy Knowe Hotel.
Venture Butik requires a compulsory emergency kit for all hikes. Recommended items include a suitable lightweight hydration pack or backpack, 1–2 litres of water, sunscreen, hat, appropriate shoes, trail snacks, a lightweight windproof jacket or fleece, and optional items such as hiking poles, fingerless gloves and buffs.
