Event Overview
The Tour de La Porte is a multi-sport community event held in La Porte, Indiana, supporting the La Porte County Family YMCA. The weekend includes a variety of movement-based activities including running, walking, and cycling. The event provides funding for local programs focused on youth development and healthy living. All running and walking events start on Waverly Road and conclude at Cummings Lodge.
Running and Walking
Participants can choose from several distances on Saturday. The Half Marathon (13.1 miles) requires participants to maintain a finish time of 3 hours, which is an average pace of 13.5 minutes per mile. The 5K Run (3.1 miles) and 5K Walk (3.1 miles) both offer finisher medals to all participants.
In the 5K Run, awards are presented to the first, second, and third-place finishers in each age category. Strollers are permitted in both 3.1-mile events, with walkers requested to line up behind the runners. A 1.5 Mile Family Fun Run/Walk is also available, featuring activity stops along the route and family-oriented activities at the finish line.
Cycling
The cycling portion of the event takes place on Sunday, beginning and ending at Cummings Lodge. Cyclists can select from the following distances:
- 5 miles
- 15 miles
- 25 miles
- 40 miles
- 60 miles
- 100 miles
All cyclists receive a finisher medal. Riders participating in the 100-mile distance are required to begin by a specific time to ensure they reach support stations during operational hours. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
