Hawthorne 4-Hour Run
The Hawthorne 4-Hour Run is a new event in 2027 held at Hawthorne Park Community Center, 500 Ackerman Drive, Porter, Indiana 46304. The format is a timed four hour event in which participants run a 1-mile loop as many times as possible within the four hour period.
The course is on town streets and is marked with flags and arrow signs at major turns. An aid station is located inside the community center, offering fuel and a place to warm up if conditions are cold. Participants will receive a limited-edition t-shirt while supplies last; if shirts run out, participants will receive a winter hat and gloves instead.
Registration fees are published for the road run category and change over time; listed amounts include mandatory charges. The event is organized by the Crazy Legs Race Series, which develops and manages non-pavement and pavement races in Northwest Indiana and holds races in parks and areas across Lake, Porter, and Laporte counties. The series states an inclusive participation policy: individuals of any sexual orientation, biological sex, gender identity, or gender expression are welcome, and transgender runners may register under the gender they identify with without documentation.
The organizer also provides a land acknowledgement for the Miami, Shawnee, Illinois, and Lenape nations for the territory where the races are held. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
