Total Recon Adventure Race : Fleurieu Peninsula, Victor Harbor
Total Recon is a team adventure race on the Fleurieu Peninsula that combines map and compass navigation with trekking, trail running, mountain biking and kayaking. Teams are composed of two or four people and compete in gender categories including Mixed, Male and Female. Mixed four-person teams are a Championship class that earn ARWS series points.
Course options:
- Full Course approximately 160 km
- 2 Day Stage Race approximately 106 km
- Sprint Course 6 hour limit, shorter distance
The full course includes substantial multisport segments, for example trek/run legs of 20–30 km, about 100 km of mountain biking and about 28 km of kayaking. The two day stage format pairs a Saturday prologue with a longer Sunday stage and typically includes roughly 20 km trekking, 75 km of mountain biking and 12 km of kayaking. The sprint course condenses running, riding and paddling into a single day with shorter running, riding and kayaking sections.
Entries include kayak use, waterproof maps, GPS trackers, medical staff, accommodation at Adare House for full and two day entrants, event merchandise and a post-event sausage sizzle. PFD and paddle hire is available at a stated fee.
The course is revealed at registration and teams receive a course guide plus two waterproof maps showing checkpoints. Teams must collect checkpoints in order and carry mandatory equipment per the ARWS list plus additional items required by the organiser. Equipment checks occur before and during the race and penalties apply for missing items. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
