Tinman Triathlon, Mount Maunganui : Sunday 22 November 2026
The Tinman Triathlon takes place in the greater Mount Maunganui area and returns for its 38th year. It is a Tri NZ Suzuki National Series event and serves as the selection event for the World Triathlon Age Group Standard Triathlon Championships in Hamburg, Germany (8-12 September 2027). The event includes national championship races for the Age Group Standard Distance and the Para Sprint Triathlon.
Race categories and distances:
- Standard: Swim 1500m, Bike 40km non drafting, Run 10km
- Sprint / Junior U20: Swim 750m, Bike 20km drafting, Run 5km
- Para Tri: Swim 750m, Bike 20km non drafting, Run 5km
- Short / Youth U17: Swim 300m, Bike 13km drafting, Run 3km
- Splash'n'Dash: Swim 100m, Run 1km
Registration fees (plus booking fees where noted): Standard individual $120, Standard team $140, TriNZ One Day Membership applies ($15). Sprint individual $85, Sprint team $100, TriNZ ODM $10. Youth and Splash'n'Dash fees noted on the event page.
Key race information: registration and race-pack collection occur on the day before the event at Coronation Park, Mt Maunganui. Most races follow Triathlon New Zealand rules. Sprint and Short courses are draft-legal with restrictions on time trial equipment; Standard and Para events are non-drafting. Run aid stations supply water and electrolyte only; no gels or food are provided on course. Lost timing transponders incur a replacement charge. Prize distribution includes finisher medals for all 2026 participants and age group medals for the Standard distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
