Tinman Triathlon : Mount Maunganui, Sunday 22 November 2026
The Tinman Triathlon returns to the greater Mount Maunganui area for its 38th year. It is part of the Tri NZ Suzuki National Series and acts as the selection event for the World Triathlon Age Group Standard Triathlon Championships in Hamburg, Germany (8–12 September 2027). The event includes Age Group Standard Distance National Championships and the Para Sprint Triathlon National Championships.
Race distances
- Standard: Swim 1500m, Bike 40km non drafting, Run 10km
- Sprint / Junior U20: Swim 750m, Bike 20km drafting, Run 5km
- Para Tri: Swim 750m, Bike 20km non drafting, Run 5km
- Short / Youth U17: Swim 300m, Bike 13km drafting, Run 3km
- Splash'n'Dash: Swim 100m, Run 1km
Course details note ocean swim starts (deep water, beach or wharf depending on race), and looped bike and run legs that follow local streets such as The Mall, Adams Ave, Marine Parade and Oceanbeach Rd. Sprint and short courses are draft legal with bike restrictions noted for some categories; the Para Tri and Standard courses are non drafting. Aid stations are on the run course with water and electrolyte only; gels and food are not provided on course stations.
Registration and event administration include a Saturday registration to collect race packs and a late entry option at that registration. Minimum age for the Standard distance is 18 years. Prizegiving includes Triathlon New Zealand age group medals for the Standard race and finisher medals for all 2026 participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
