About the race
The Loan Market Oceanside Tauranga Half is a middle-distance triathlon held as part of the Fulton Hogan Mount Festival of Multisport in Tauranga. The event features a coastal course described as fast and flat and is promoted as a personal-best (PB) course with views of well-known local scenery.

The event hosts the Tri NZ Middle Distance National Triathlon Championships and acts as a qualifier for the World Triathlon Multisport Championships (long distance) in Edmonton, Canada. Entries are available for individuals and teams, and there is an Open Category that runs alongside the elite field; both Open and Pro/Elite categories have published qualifying time criteria. Triathlon New Zealand membership is required for all participants; one-day memberships can be purchased with entry.
Prize money for the event totals NZ$26,500, with professional/elite male and female top-five payouts listed (1st NZ$6,500; 2nd NZ$3,500; 3rd NZ$2,500; 4th NZ$500; 5th NZ$250). Age-group competitors are not eligible for prize money; medals are awarded to the top three in each age group.
