Timely Nonsense - Chicago, IL
Timely Nonsense is a timed ultrarunning event held at Horner Park, a 58-acre park at the intersection of California and Montrose in Chicago. The event offers timed running options of roughly 3 hours, 6 hours, and 12 hours, during which participants complete repeated laps of a paved loop around the park. The course is described in materials as approximately .75 mile in one place and .97 mile in another; organizers run the loop in a counter clockwise direction.
There is a single aid station located at the start/finish area that is stocked with typical ultrarunning fare. A vendor at the park sells items such as hot dogs, popsicles, and sodas. Portable toilet facilities are provided on course and the park recreation center is available during the day.
At the top of every hour, the event introduces a new lighthearted challenge that runners may complete during that hour; past challenges have included rolling down the hill and sliding at the playground. Team entry is offered with options for two person relay teams and four person relay teams. Packet pick-up is at the starting line near the southwest corner of the park by the dog park.
