Timely Nonsense - Chicago, IL
Timely Nonsense is a timed urban ultra held in Chicago on Saturday, September 12, 2026. The event runs on a roughly one mile paved loop around a 58 acre park in the city. Participants can choose from multiple timed formats and relay options.
Event formats include:
- 3 hour individual
- 6 hour individual
- 12 hour individual
- 2 person relay and 4 person relay options
The course is run counter clockwise and uses a start and finish area with a single aid station stocked with typical ultra fare. A vendor on site sells hot dogs, popsicles, and sodas. There is a port a potty on course and the park recreation center is available during the day.
At the top of each hour race staff present a short, optional challenge that runners may complete during that hour. Packet pick up is located at the starting line near the southwest corner of the park by the dog park. The event is presented by CUSS Running and the Curious Ultrarunner’s Secret Society, which describes itself as aiming to add whimsy to ultrarunning. The organizer also notes availability of free entries for BIPOC and LGBTQ plus athletes while funding lasts, and states that entrants’ declared gender will be accepted for registration.
