7th Annual Turkey Trot 5K/Walk Family Tradition
The Turkey Trot Family Tradition returns for its seventh anniversary in Elmwood Park, Illinois. This community event takes place on Thanksgiving morning and is centered around the Healthy Happy Body location. The event offers participants multiple ways to participate in movement before holiday celebrations begin.
The event consists of several distance options:
- 5k running race
- Kids 5k for participants ages 13 and older
- 1 Mile Walk
The course and atmosphere are designed to accommodate a wide range of participants. Registration is open to runners, walkers, and individuals pushing strollers. The event is also pet-friendly, allowing four-legged companions to join their owners. Participants often wear costumes to match the holiday theme.
Registered participants receive a short-sleeve shirt, a race bib, and a commemorative medal. A live DJ provides entertainment at the venue. The race route starts and ends at the address on West Diversey Avenue. This gathering emphasizes community spirit and collective movement to mark the holiday season.
