Chi Town Turkey Trot
The Chi Town Turkey Trot takes place in Chicago on November 26, 2026. This is the 16th annual edition and it offers in-person and virtual participation as part of the Thankful Turkey national series and the Run Chicagoland Race Series.
Race format and course
- 5K on the Chicago Lakefront Trail and sidewalks
- 10K on the Chicago Lakefront Trail and sidewalks
- Kids Dash
- Virtual run option
The event is chip-timed and includes fun run and kids categories. Course time limits are 5K : 1 hour 20 minutes and 10K : 1 hour 50 minutes. Toilets are located at the start and finish.
Amenities and logistics Finishers receive a commemorative medal and Chicago’s Do-Rite Donuts at the finish line. Participants can choose a classic t-shirt or upgrade to a soft polyester pullover. Beer (21 and over) and hot apple cider are available. Water stations provide water and a gear check is offered on site. Packet mailing is available for a fee; mailed packets typically arrive before the event and virtual packets arrive after the event.
Awards and rules Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each age group and overall in chip-timed categories; participants must be present to receive medals. Strollers are allowed for walkers and joggers only and must start in the back of the corrals. Dogs are not allowed. The run proceeds rain, snow or shine but may be delayed for dangerous conditions.
