About the race
The Tiger Fun Run 5K honors the legacy of the Christiansburg Industrial Institute, one of the region's historically significant African American educational institutions and the first high school in Southwest Virginia established to educate formerly enslaved people and their descendants. The event supports preservation work and funds expanded educational programs, museum exhibits, cultural preservation, and community engagement initiatives.
The event takes place on September 26 at 300 Huckleberry Park Drive NW, Christiansburg, VA 24073. Participants will take part in a professionally organized 5K run or walk and receive a commemorative Tiger Sprint 5K T-shirt while supplies last and a custom race bib. Registration is tiered: Early Bird $20 (July 28 - August 14), Regular $25 (August 15 - September 25), and Race Day $30 (September 26).
