Shamrock 4 Miler and Lucky Leprechaun 1K Dash
The Shamrock 4 Miler and Lucky Leprechaun 1K Dash takes place on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Blacksburg High School. The 8th annual Shamrock 4 Miler is the second event in the 2026 RunAbout Race Series. The associated Lucky Leprechaun Dash is a 1-kilometer run on the Blacksburg High School cross country course. A virtual option for the 4-mile distance is also available.
The main event is a 4-mile, one-loop road course using Prices Fork Rd, Plantation Rd, and the Hethwood bike paths. There is one aid station. Strollers are allowed on the 4-mile course, but dogs are not permitted. The 1-kilometer course is on grass and includes hills and tight turns.
Registration fees for the Shamrock 4 Miler increase in tiers: $30 until March 1, $35 from March 2-13, and $40 on race day. The Lucky Leprechaun Dash is a free event. The virtual 4-miler costs $26, which includes a shirt and medal for store pick-up. Participants who register by March 1 are guaranteed a long-sleeved race shirt. All finishers of the 4-mile race receive a medal.
Packet pickup is available on Friday, March 13 at RunAbout Sports and on race day at the high school. A portion of the event's proceeds is donated to the Blacksburg High School Track and Cross Country team. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
