Course and practical information
The route runs through Thursley National Nature Reserve, a 325-hectare area of heathland, peat bogs, pine and deciduous woodland. The course is described by the organiser as the flattest they offer and includes a boardwalk section. The reserve supports wildlife such as dragonflies and damselflies (about 20 species) and several bird species including Dartford warblers, stone chats, long-tailed tits, goldcrests, redstarts, whitethroats and wheatears.
Runs are led by a qualified guide and are suitable for participants prepared to run in a group at a steady pace; the organiser suggests being able to sustain roughly 6 min/km on trail. A full kit list is provided before the event. Silva head torches are available for evening runs and Salomon trail shoes can be trialled. A car park is available at the venue. The organiser may provide an alcohol-free beer from Athletic Brewing Company at the end of the run, subject to availability. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
