Thunder Run 5K Run/Walk
Thunder Run 5K Run/Walk is scheduled for October 4, 2026 at Heckscher State Park - Field 4 in East Islip, New York. The event offers in-person and virtual participation and includes a timed 5K Run/Walk plus a 1K Kids Fun Run. A virtual participation window is provided from October 4 to October 11 for submitting times and photos.
Registration includes tiered pricing with early bird, pre-race, and race day options, plus a youth discount for ages 17 and under. Registered participants may receive a Thunder Run tee shirt; personalized bibs are provided for those registered three weeks before the event. Live online, text, and email results are available, and free finish line photos are provided the same day. Raffles and a 50/50 drawing are listed among event amenities.
Awards are given to the top three male and female overall finishers and to the top three male and female finishers in age groups that span from 14 and under through 90 plus. The event includes recognition for wheelchair athletes and is associated with the Rolling Thunder Special Needs Program, a nonprofit inclusive running club focused on opportunities for challenged individuals.
