The Mandan Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 4984 presents the Through the Smoke Road Race on June 6, 2026 in Mandan, North Dakota. The event starts at the Mandan Firefighters Training Grounds, 629 24th Ave SE, and the course passes through the Lakewood area.
Distances and event types:
- 10K competitive
- 5K competitive
- Family Fun 5K dogs and strollers welcome
- Kids half mile for ages 10 and under
- Virtual race participants may complete a 5K 10K or family walk
Proceeds fund new fitness equipment and advanced training for the Mandan Firefighters. The organizer notes that access to fitness equipment and training supports physical performance and mental resilience for firefighting crews and helps maintain community safety.
The start area will feature a Kids Fire Safety Fun Zone with hands on activities and education for children. Packet pickup is available on the day before the event and on race day. Competitive 5K and 10K registrations include a swag bag an event T shirt a finisher medal a race bib and professional timing by Pickle Events. Family Fun 5K entries receive a swag bag and one event T shirt per registered participant and are not professionally timed.
Awards will be presented to first place finishers in each age group for both male and female divisions in the competitive 5K and 10K. All competitive registrants receive a finisher medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
