Three Shires Way Ultra & Marathon
The event offers two point-to-point races along the Three Shires Way through Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire, finishing at Marlow Park, Grafham Water.
- 50 Mile Ultra - 50 miles along the Three Shires Way.
- Marathon - Marathon distance starting at Yelden and finishing at Grafham Water.
Both races are licensed by the TRA and held under UKA rules. Entries are open with set entry fees and a small discount for athletes in UK Athletics affiliated clubs. Minimum ages apply: 20 years for the 50 mile race and 18 years for the marathon. Cut-off times are 14 hours for the ultra and 8 hours for the marathon, with progressive checkpoint cut-offs published by the organisers. No pacers are permitted.
The ultra route links with the Swan’s Way, passes county boundaries at Threeshire Wood and includes a loop around Grafham Water; GPX files are available for both routes. Coaches run from the finish to the start locations for both races; coach places can be booked with an entry for a stated additional fee. Parking at the finish is available at a reduced event price and details are provided in the race pack.
Timing and live tracking use rented trackers issued at registration and collected back at finish. On-course support includes volunteers providing hydration and nutrition at aid stations and professional first aid cover. Mandatory kit lists include a charged mobile, minimum 1 litre fluid capacity, survival blanket, whistle, long sleeve or fleece (ultra only), reflective top or bands (ultra only) and a personal cup. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each race and all finishers receive a commissioned event medal. Free digital race photos are supplied after the event.
