Three Shires Way Ultra & Marathon
The event offers two point-to-point trail races along the Three Shires Way through Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire. Distances:
- 50 miles
- Marathon
The 50 mile race starts at Hanslope Village Hall and the Marathon starts at Yelden Village Hall. Both races finish at Marlow Park, Grafham Water. Routes follow bridleways and are waymarked, with additional markings on sections that may need extra guidance. GPX files are provided for both routes.
Entry, support and requirements
Entries are priced at £70 for the 50 mile race and £40 for the Marathon; a £2 discount applies for runners in clubs affiliated to UK Athletics. Minimum ages are 20 for the 50 mile race and 18 for the Marathon. Cut-off times are 14 hours for the 50 miler and 8 hours for the Marathon, with progressive checkpoint cut-offs. No pacers are permitted and entry transfers close seven days before the event.
On-course support includes professional first aid at start and finish and volunteers staffing aid stations. Mandatory kit includes a charged mobile phone with race emergency numbers, at least 1 litre capacity for water, a survival blanket, a whistle and a personal cup. The 50 mile race has additional mandatory items such as a long-sleeved layer, reflective clothing, hat and gloves, and a headtorch. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers and all finishers receive a medal. Race merchandise is available to pre-order and free digital race photos are provided after the event.
