Foxton Hound Ultra

The Foxton Hound Ultra offers two waymarked trail distances around Market Harborough, following much of the Harborough Round through Northamptonshire and Leicestershire. The course visits villages and sites of interest including Houghton on the Hill, West Haddon, Coton, Stoke Albany, Foxton Locks, the Naseby battlefield and the Kelmarsh Tunnel on the Brampton Valley Way. Routes also intersect with the Jurassic Way, the Leicestershire Round, the Macmillan Way, the Midshires Way, the Richard the Third Trail and the Uppingham Round.

Both races are licensed by the TRA and run under UKA rules. Minimum entry age is 20 years on race day. The 100k has an overall cut off of 18 hours with progressive checkpoint cut offs from Checkpoint 3; the 50k has a 9 hour finish cut off and no intermediate cut offs. Pacers are permitted on the 100k from Checkpoint 5. Crews and spectators are not allowed in Cottesbrooke village or at the Elkington water station.

On-course support includes professional first aid at HQ and start/finish, plus Race Harborough volunteers staffing aid stations. Seven aid stations are provided on the 100k route and three on the 50k route, offering a mix of fruit, snacks, Tailwind, water, Coke and vegetarian and vegan options. Hot food and drinks are provided at Checkpoint 4 and Checkpoint 7 on the 100k. GPX files and written route instructions are available and free guided recces are offered before the event.

Mandatory kit includes a charged mobile phone, at least 1 litre of water capacity, survival blanket, head torch with spare batteries, waterproof jacket, whistle, long sleeved base layer or fleece, and a personal cup. Reflective top or bands, plus hat and gloves, are required for the 100k. Parking is available at Race HQ. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each race and all finishers receive a commemorative medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
