Both routes follow sections of the Harborough Round long-distance footpath and pass through countryside and villages around Market Harborough in Northamptonshire and Leicestershire, including Foxton Locks, the Naseby Battlefield and the Kelmarsh Tunnel. The routes also use parts of the Jurassic Way, Leicestershire Round, Macmillan Way, Midshires Way, Richard III Trail and Uppingham Round. Both races are licensed by the TRA and held under UKA rules.

The 100k has an overall cut-off of 18 hours with progressive checkpoint cut-offs from Checkpoint 3. The 50k has a 9-hour finish cut-off and no checkpoint cut-offs.
