Event overview

The Foxton Hound Ultra is a trail ultramarathon held on 15 August 2026 near Market Harborough, Northamptonshire. Two distances are offered:

  • 100k
  • 50k

Both races follow much of the Harborough Round long-distance footpath and use sections of other long-distance trails, including the Jurassic Way, the Leicestershire Round, the Macmillan Way, the Midshires Way, the Richard the Third Trail, and the Uppingham Round. The course passes through villages and locations such as Houghton on the Hill, West Haddon, Coton, Stoke Albany, Foxton Locks, Naseby Battlefield, and the Kelmarsh Tunnel on the Brampton Valley Way. Both races are licensed by the TRA and held under UKA rules.

Race details and logistics

Race HQ, start and finish are at Winwick Hall, Winwick, Northants NN6 7PD. Entries are priced at £75 for the 100k and £50 for the 50k; runners in UK Athletics affiliated clubs receive a £2 discount. Minimum age is 20 years on race day. The 100k has a total of 7 checkpoints/aid stations; the 50k includes 3. The 100k has an overall cut-off of 18 hours with progressive checkpoint cut-offs from Checkpoint 3. The 50k has a finish cut-off of 9 hours and no checkpoint cut-offs. Pacers are permitted on the 100k from Checkpoint 5 only. GPX files and written route instructions are available for download.

Support, kit and extras

Professional first aid is provided at the start and finish with course access. Aid stations supply fruit, snacks, Tailwind, water and Coke, with vegetarian/vegan options; hot pasta at Checkpoint 4 and soup at Checkpoint 7 on the 100k. Trail shoes are advisable. Mandatory kit includes a charged mobile phone, at least 1 litre water capacity, survival blanket, head torch with spare batteries, waterproof jacket, whistle, long-sleeved base layer or fleece, and a personal cup. Reflective top/bands and hat and gloves are required for the 100k. Free guided recces are offered before the event. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each race, and all finishers receive an event medal. Course record times are listed for each distance.
