Thornton Turkey Trot, Glenwood, IL
The Thornton Turkey Trot is an annual road event held in Glenwood, Illinois on November 26, 2026. The 2026 edition is the 58th running; the event was started in 1968. The race location is listed as 183rd and Cottage Grove Ave, Glenwood, IL 60425.

Packet pickup is available the day before the race at Running for Kicks on November 25 and is also offered on race day. There is a high school team competition; team scoring requires three athletes from a school to score points. Boys and girls teams are scored separately and there is no coed team competition.
Proceeds benefit the Winged Foot Foundation, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that supports student athletes in the Chicago area by providing athletic equipment and academic programs to strengthen local educational and sports activities.
All finishers receive a medal. Awards are given to the top three finishers in the following age groups, male and female: 14 & Under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80 & Older. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
