Thornhill 10K - Round The Frews
The Thornhill 10K is an annual road running event held in the village of Thornhill. The race follows a route known as the Frews, established in memory of local farmer Steven Black. The 10k course is entirely on tarmac and offers views of the Wallace Monument and the Munros to the north. In addition to the main distance, there is a shorter option available.
The available distances include:
- 10 km
- 2.5 km
The event is professionally organized and features electronic chip timing for all participants. The 10 km course includes two water stations located at the 5 km and 9 km marks, while the 2.5 km course has one water station at the 1 km mark. The shorter route consists of a mix of tarmac and designated paths.
The event hub is located at the Thornhill Community Hall, where facilities such as toilets, changing rooms, and a baggage drop are available. Medical provision is situated at the hub and along the route. Parking is provided in fields close to the start and finish lines. All finishers receive a medal, and prizes are awarded to top performers across various gender and age categories. A portion of every entry fee is donated to the Beatson Cancer Charity.
