Thornhill 10K
Thornhill 10K is a community running event held in Thornhill, starting and finishing at Thornhill Community Hall (FK8 3QB) on Sun 9th May 2027. The event offers two course options and a virtual entry option.
- 10K
- 2.5K
The routes run round the Frews, pass local landmarks including the Wallace monument, and return to Thornhill. The 10K is entirely on tarmac roads; the 2.5K combines tarmac and path. Both courses are fully marked with large yellow signs, and marshals and medical staff are positioned at key locations. There are two water stations on the 10K route (5 km and 9 km) and one on the 2.5K (1 km).
Entries include a medal, electronic chip timing with integrated race number, water at the finish, medical provision, and parking in nearby fields. Timing chips are posted about two weeks before the event; late registrants collect chips on race day. Catering of hot and cold food and drinks is available at the community hall, with funds from catering going to the event charity.
The event was established in honour of a local dairy farmer who died in 2020 from duodenal cancer. £2 from each entry fee is donated to the event charity partner and additional fundraising options are available. Age limits apply: 10K entrants must be at least 15 years old; 2.5K entrants must be at least 8 years old to run alone, younger children may run with an adult. Dogs are not permitted. Prize allocation follows stated gender and age-category minimums. Deferral, transfer, and refund policies apply with specific deadlines and a 10% admin fee for refunds.
