Thornhill 10K

The Thornhill 10K is a community road event held in Thornhill, with routes that run round the Frews and return to Thornhill Community Hall (FK8 3QB). The event offers two distances:

  • 10 km
  • 2.5 km

The 10 km route is entirely on tarmac; the 2.5 km route uses a mix of tarmac and path. There are two water stations on the 10 km route at 5 km and 9 km, and one water station on the 2.5 km route at 1 km. Electronic chip timing is used and participants receive a medal, water at the finish, race hydration from Active Root, and medical provision along the route. Photographs from the event are provided free on the organiser’s website.

The event was created in memory of a local dairy farmer who died in 2020 from duodenal cancer and supports a cancer charity. Two pounds from each entry fee is donated to the charity and additional fundraising and catering on the day also support the partner charity.

Age limits apply: 10 km entrants must be at least 15 years old; 2.5 km entrants must be at least 8 years old to run alone (those aged 7 and under may take part with an accompanying adult aged 18 or over). The event uses multiple gender categories and awards prizes subject to minimum participation levels. Disabled participants are welcome and are asked to discuss support needs with the organiser before registering. Dogs are not permitted to run with participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
