Event details
The Thornhill 10K takes place on Sun 10th May 2026 at Thornhill Community Hall, Thornhill, FK8 3QB. There are two event distances:
- 10K
- 2.5K
The 10K route is entirely on tarmac road. The 2.5K route uses a mix of tarmac and path. The route runs round the Frews and passes views of the Wallace Monument and Munros to the north. The 10K has two water stations at 5 km and 9 km; the 2.5K has one water station at 1 km. Both routes are fully marked with large yellow signs; marshals and medical staff are positioned at key locations. Electronic chip timing is used and race numbers with integrated timing chips are posted about two weeks before the event; late registrants collect timing chips on the day. Parking is available in fields close to the start/finish. Toilets, changing rooms and first aid are provided at the hall. Hot and cold food and drinks will be available in the community hall.
Charity, entry and prizes
The event was created in honour of a local dairy farmer who died in 2020 and supports Beatson Cancer Charity. £2 from each entry fee goes to the charity; additional donations and event fundraising are also accepted, and catering proceeds are donated. Entry fees are: 10K £26, 2.5K £10. All finishers receive a medal. Prize awards depend on minimum entry numbers: top three in each gender category (male, female, non-binary, other) require at least five participants in that category; age-group prizes require at least three participants in the gender age category. Participants can request deferrals up to one month before the event, transfers up to one week before, and refunds up to one month before subject to a 10% admin fee. Disabled participants are welcome and should discuss support needs before registering. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
