Thornhill 10K
The Thornhill 10K is a community running event held on 9 May 2027 at Thornhill Community Hall, Thornhill, FK8 3QB. The event offers two distances:
- 10K
- 2.5K
Organisers describe the 10K route as run "round the Frews," with views that include the Wallace monument and Munros to the north. The 10K is entirely on tarmac road; the 2.5K uses a mix of tarmac and path. There are two water stations on the 10K route (at about 5 km and 9 km) and one on the 2.5K (at about 1 km). Chip timing is used for both distances and official results are posted after the event.
Entry fees are listed as £28 for the 10K and £10 for the 2.5K, with £2 from each entry donated to the event charity partner, Beatson Cancer Charity. The event was created in memory of a local dairy farmer who died in 2020 from duodenal cancer; the route commemorates a year-long fundraising challenge in which a local runner completed a 10K each day and raised over £10,000.
Included in entry: medal for all finishers, water at the finish, electronic chip timing, medical provision, free event photos, race hydration, and parking near the event hub. Age limits: 10K minimum age 15 on race day; 2.5K minimum age 8 to run alone, younger children may run with an adult. The event welcomes disabled participants and asks that they make contact beforehand to discuss support. Dogs are not permitted.
